63% of businesses want to adopt artificial intelligence in the next three years

More than 60% of companies globally want to use artificial intelligence in their work in the next three years, almost doubling their number in using AI. In this sense, Romania follows the global trend and, although it is still behind, it will manage to register a spectacular advance and become a benchmark on the artificial intelligence scene in the European Union, emphasizes Ayn Rand Center Romania, the main organizer of an important event about the future artificial intelligence in Romania, together with ThinkUP Marketing, one of the main branding and marketing agencies in the country.

“Artificial Intelligence is no longer a futuristic notion, but a tangible reality, increasingly present in our lives. Although currently only 35% of companies worldwide use AI, according to a McKinsey & Company study, shortly their number is set to almost double. Artificial intelligence will increasingly be found in workplaces in various fields, especially in marketing, IT, medicine, automotive, and others, implicitly in Romania. Even if our country is still at the beginning regarding the use of artificial intelligence, it will register a significant advance very shortly, and Romania will be an impressive player on the AI scene in the European Union. The speed of integration of AI, either in the business environment and in the field of work, or in everyday life in common phone applications, will be impressive in Romania”, says Mirela Lucia Pascu, President of the Ayn Rand Center Romania, organizer of the artificial intelligence event in Bucharest.

Thus, the future of artificial intelligence in business and in people’s lives in Romania and globally will be debated, on April 16, during the Navigating the Intersection of AI and Data Privacy event, organized at the Romanian-American University. At the event, Barbara Kolm – director of the Austrian Economic Center and former Vice President of the National Bank of Austria, Cristiana Deca – expert in data protection and founder of Decalex Digital, Cătălin Pătrașcu will discuss the power and future of AI in people’s lives and in business – cyber security expert at NTT Data, Alexandru Diaconu – co-founder of AiGIA Health, Silvia Uscov – Managing Partner Uscov si Asociatii and other specialists in technology and in other fields impacted by the evolution of AI.

“Artificial intelligence is here and here to stay, so it is very important to understand its impact on people, on democracy and on life in general. This event aims to debate these topics and we hope to be able to shed some light in this way,” says Cristiana Deca, founder of Decalex Digital, main partner of the April 16 artificial intelligence event.

Artificial intelligence is integrated into more and more fields of activity, especially in IT, marketing, medicine, e-commerce and automotive, but the impact of AI will be increasingly greater and any type of business. Six in 10 executives are excited about the use of generative AI, with plans to initiate pilot projects or integrate it into their operations by 2024. At the same time, 72% of executives believe that artificial intelligence will become the most significant business advantage in the future, McKinsey & Company data also show.

“In the context of the accelerated evolution of technology, the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on cyber security and cybercrime is becoming more and more prominent. Cybercriminals are now using advanced techniques such as neural networks and machine learning algorithms to create more sophisticated malware, and carry out phishing attacks and other cyber threats with an alarming degree of success. This ‘cyber arms race’ puts constant pressure on security solution developers to stay one step ahead”, says Cătălin Pătrașcu, cyber security expert at NTT Data.

Almost 50% of current jobs will disappear soon

In the past five years, the field of AI has seen significant progress in almost all of its subfields, including vision, speech recognition and generation, natural language processing (understanding and generating it), image and video generation, multi-agent systems, the process decision-making and integration of vision and motor control for robotics. In addition, a multitude of innovative applications have been developed, such as gaming, medical diagnostics, logistics systems, autonomous driving, language translation, and interactive personal assistance.

“Understanding the real risks of the emergence of an Orwellian society, the only solution to combat AI colonialism is for each of us, on an individual level, to take control of our data, realizing its immense value, in parallel with the development, based on consent, of own LLM or Generative AI models, at the level of each state”, says Alexandru Diaconu, co-founder of AiGIA Health.

“In this decade’s economy, driven by the large-scale introduction of AI, there will be a rapid transition to other skills: from the simple execution of repetitive and analytical tasks to creativity, critical thinking, empathy and the ability to build human connections. If they don’t adapt to the new requirements, almost 50% of the current jobs will disappear soon”, says Silvia Uscov, Managing Partner of Uscov and Associates.

According to McKinsey & Company, AI applications have the potential to contribute $2.6 to $4.4 trillion annually to the global economy through various business scenarios. Moreover, the market for generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) will show a rapid evolution in 2024, moving from the initial cultural fascination to tangible results in the business environment. This technology, with the ability to process and generate text, voice, and video content, is revolutionizing how companies improve productivity and drive innovation and creativity.

Romania is the host of one of the biggest events about the future of artificial intelligence in Europe, organized by the Ayn Rand Center Romania association, with the support of VISA, Decalex, Exim Bank, LIFE Dental Spa, Domeniile Sâmburești and Aqua Carpatica.
