Aspida appoints new CTO and Director of Digital Product Management

Aspida, a life insurance and annuity company, has announced the appointment of two new hires, Jason Pedone as Chief Technology Officer and Derek Clinton as Director of Digital Product Management.

These “strategic” new hires will play a pivotal role in the continued development and advancement of the company’s cutting-edge, in-house technology stack and unified data architecture, Aspida highlighted.

Aspida was founded in 2021 aiming to revolutionise the industry with its unique technology platform and service model.

The platform enables the firm to operate as a tech-first provider delivering speed, efficiency, and scalability required for partners and providers to thrive in an evolving market.

Developing its technology stack entirely in-house frees Aspida from legacy systems and technical debt. Cutting full dependence on external systems, enables the company to innovate and adapt quickly to changing market conditions and consumer needs, it explains.

“Our unique perspective on technology isn’t just about current trends – it’s about pioneering the future of annuity services. We see technology as a fundamental pillar to redefine industry standards, create unmatched user experiences, and lead the way in innovation,” said Alex Seidita, CIO at Aspida.

He adds: “These appointments underscore our commitment to putting the right leaders in place to drive our digital transformation efforts and deliver innovative solutions to our clients.”

With a proven track record in platform development and establishing modern and flexible technology architecture, new CTO Pedone brings a wealth of experience to his new team.

He is joining the company from Truist Financial, where he served as SVP and Head of Digital and Consumer Channels Engineering Division.

Commenting on his appointment he said: “The technology infrastructure Aspida has built marks a significant leap forward for the insurance industry. Today’s partners and clients are more tech savvy than ever before, and they expect the seamless, digital experience we enable.

“I’m excited to support Aspida’s journey to shape the future of the industry and establish new benchmarks for client-centric solutions in the digital age.”

In his role as Director of Digital Product Management, Clinton will leverage more than 13 years of experience in product, program, and innovation management to drive user-centric innovation.

He is joining Aspida from Pacific Life where he was Head of Product and Innovation, Venture Development.

While holding this position Clinton spearheaded the development of a customer-centric global product strategy and consistently launched products that drove over $40 million in new revenue or cost savings while managing a $5 million product and innovation team.
