BeaverworX comes up short at FIRST Robotics worlds

It just wasn’t meant to be for the BeaverworX crew from Our Lady of Lourdes.

Team 2609, made up of students and mentors from the Guelph high school, was unable to pick up a second straight banner at the FIRST Robotics World Championship in Houston, Texas this past weekend.

Teams were tested to create a robot that could capture styrofoam rings laying on the ground and deploy them into marked goals.

BeaverworX posted a score of 1.40 and had a 4-6 record in its division, but did not qualify for the playoff matchups.

The FIRST competition featured over a thousand teams from 58 countries, competing in what is considered the largest celebration of STEM in the world.
