ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — As part of $25.1 million in grant awards for public electric vehicle charging infrastructure, new ports will soon be available in the area. According to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, ITSM Software Consultants Inc. has been given $1,810,000 to build ports in nine locations, including two in Arlington Heights and one in Buffalo Grove.

According to the EPA, the grants will fund 643 new Direct Current Fast Charging ports at 141 locations throughout the state as part of the Driving a Cleaner Illinois program.

“In Illinois, we’re strategically turning our vision for a clean energy future into a reality,” Gov. JB Pritzker said earlier this month. “Thanks to recent grant awards, my administration will double the number of publicly available fast charging ports — putting us one step closer to our goal of reaching 100 percent clean energy by 2050.”

The DCFC charging stations will be built at publicly accessible locations (shopping centers, retail stores, gas stations, hotels, etc.).
