Fort Myers robotics team wins award at world championship

A robotics team based in Fort Myers brought home a big award from a world championship in Houston.This month, “Java the Hutts” competed in the First Tech Challenge. It brings together the top 224 teams from around the world. Java the Hutts won the second place connect award for engaging the local STEM community. Beyond building robots, the team has prototyped a device to help a local ALS patient regain partial use of his arm. They’ve also designed and built accessible robotics kits to engage more kids.The team is pumped up and already gearing up for the next season, which starts in September.
