NFIB Supports Legislation Stopping Electrical Vehicle Mandate
Electric vehicle legislation is considered an NFIB key vote
In a recent NFIB member ballot, 96% of respondents expressed their belief that the federal government should not restrict purchasing consumer products like gas-powered vehicles. NFIB strongly supports S. 4072, legislation that aims to prevent the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from creating an electric vehicle (EV) mandate. This legislation would prohibit the use of funds to implement, administer, or enforce certain EPA rules related to EVs. It will be an NFIB Key Vote for the 118th Congress.
“Small business owners believe that businesses and consumers should be free to make their own decisions on which vehicle works best for their needs and operations,” said Adam Temple, NFIB Senior Vice President for Advocacy. “This legislation would stop an EV mandate that would limit choices and increase costs at a time when small businesses can’t afford it. In particular, the mandate would have a significant effect on small businesses that rely on trucks and vans for work such as farmers and contractors. We ask Congress to pass this bill and stop an unreasonable regulation on Main Street.”
This legislation aims to protect Main Street businesses from a regulation that is not feasible in rural areas that lack the infrastructure to accommodate EVs and ensure that small businesses have the flexibility to choose vehicles that suit their unique requirements.
