Tempe company uses robotics, AI to make hand-written letters

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — When it comes to sending someone a card, whether it’s for a birthday or a thank you, getting something handwritten can feel more sentimental.

Writing them, especially if you want to send a lot of cards, can take a lot of time.

A Tempe company is using robotics and AI to save you time and possibly hand cramps.

Arizona’s Family made the trip over to Tempe to meet up with David Wacks, the CEO of Handwrytten.

His company uses robotics to write letters as if they were written by hand.

“They’re writing notes on behalf of 10,000 different people,” said Wacks. Their machines can write 10,000 to 20,000 letters a day. “It just writes in a regular ballpoint pen like you would,” Wacks said.

The robots can write in a variety of handwriting styles and if you have some extra cash, they can even use AI to mimic your own handwriting. “You can work with us and we will create a custom style for you,” Wacks said.

You can select from hundreds of different types of cards or design your own. They even ship the letter for you.

“You don’t have to do anything. We have postage machines here and it stamps those cards and everyday we go to the post office,” said Wacks.

The robots are designed and created in Tempe. Wacks said their machines are even being used across the world like in Australia.

Wacks said he came up with the idea to create the company when he wanted to write thank you notes to his former employees at his last business.
