Athens Renaissance School teacher earns robotics finalist award | Local News

Taylor Whisenant, Athens Renaissance School STEAM Specialist, received the 2024 FIRST Robotics Woodie Flowers Finalist Award. This award recognizes outstanding FIRST Robotics mentors for their leadership, passion and impact on inspiring the next generation of innovators. Whisenant received this esteemed award at the recent Rocket City Regional Regional Competition at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.

Whisenant, a K-12 STEAM teacher at Athens Renaissance School and leader of Renaissance Robotics Team #538, has developed 14 FIRST Robotics teams spanning the K-12 age groups at ARS. She serves as Program Delivery Partner for FIRST® LEGO League, FIRST® Robotics Competition Program Delivery Partner as well as Regional Director for FIRST in Alabama.
