Kansas Courts Identify 150,000 Potential Victims of Cybersecurity Incident

The Kansas Office of Judicial Administration announced Monday that it has identified approximately 150,000 individuals whose personal information was potentially accessed during a “cybersecurity incident” in October that left the state’s information system offline for weeks.

While it was initially anticipated that anyone who had ever interacted with the Kansas courts could be impacted, cybersecurity analysts completed an extensive review April 23 and determined that the files accessed could involve approximately 150,000 people. Some of the personal information came from litigation documents in the Kansas appellate courts, applications to the Kansas bar, or other records held by the office, court administrators announced in a news release.
