Artificial Intelligence In the Dairy Industry

The use of artificial intelligence is starting to make its way into the dairy industry.

Manitowoc Agriculture Educator Angie Ulness tells Seehafer News that, like a business, the industry is incorporating analytics, data, and technology, but AI is the next step.

“Artificial intelligence is software that mimics the human thinking process and adapts to additional information,” she explains. “And it’s not absent in the dairy industry.”

Ulness says that down the road, there will be many different apps and technologies.

She specifically pointed to one where a farm can “wear goggles and look right above the cow and see what cow that is, when she has had her calf last, how much milk she gives, all that information. It’s all really exciting.”

Ulness hopes that everyone provides factual information for AI use.

She challenges everyone to be truthful because that’s how the interface learns, and she wants to ensure that consumers receive the correct information.
