DoT organises Telecom Design Collaboration Sprint to drive deep-tech innovation in telecom sector

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) organised the first-of-its-kind Telecom Design Collaboration Sprint to foster deep-tech innovation among startups and academic institutions, a PIB press release stated.

Through this initiative, DoT aims to drive the growth of the digital ecosystem by facilitating collaboration and innovation among a range of stakeholders. The event, which was held in Bangalore, brought together 15 leading startups, MSMEs, and academic institutions including IIT Madras, C-DOT, and IIT Delhi.

The participants were engaged in deep-tech rapid ideation and solution development to enhance the overall competitiveness of the Indian telecom sector in the 5G era. The collaboration has resulted in the formation of outcome-based focused groups that will address the gaps in the Indian telecom ecosystem and prepare for future advancements. The groups will focus on areas such as core infrastructure, distribution units (DUs), radio units (RUs), central units (CUs), and others. The aim is to provide solutions that are tailored to meet the evolving needs of the industry.

Participants expressed their interest in deep collaboration and urged the DoT to continue with such initiatives. The event marks a significant milestone in DoT’s efforts to promote innovation and foster collaboration in the telecom sector. The initiative is expected to create a platform for 5G innovation that will drive growth and create a more competitive landscape for the digital ecosystem.
