Nevis robotics highlighted in MSBA magazine – Park Rapids Enterprise

Nevis School’s robotics team is featured in the May/June issue of the Minnesota School Board Association’s (MSBA) “Journal.”

The “What’s Right With Public Schools”has a picture of Nevis robotics students on the cover with the story title “Nurturing Tomorrow’s Educators,” written by mentor Olaf Netteberg.

“We were asked to be a booth exhibitor at the MSBA for three years as a School of Excellence,” mentor Kay Netteberg said. “In 2023, we suggested a bigger operating space at the convention to demonstrate a live full field to the school boards and administrators from our state. The MSBA agreed and Team 3102, alongside five other northern Minnesota teams, spent two days at the MSBA convention showcasing FIRST Robotics and what it can do for students.

“As 2024 rolled around, we were asked to again highlight the role robotics has in our communities at the convention. Following this exhibition, Team 3102 was asked to write an article, in conjunction with our superintendent, about the impact FIRST Robotics has in our school system. The article shines a light on what is right with education in our community. We are genuinely grateful for the opportunity to share our commitment to robotics and give our students the opportunity to be a part of something bigger by potentially impacting the education of students across our state through discussions with school administrators.”
