Industry leaders, policymakers, and cloud and cybersecurity professionals recently converged in Kampala, Uganda, for the East Africa Cloud and Cybersecurity Roadshow. Held at Four Points by Sheraton, the event focused on the dynamic world of cloud computing and cybersecurity.
Organized for the first time in Uganda by dx5, Africa’s technology driver, and powered by BUI East Africa, an information technology company, the roadshow is a series of events dedicated to advancing the technological landscape of East Africa. The event featured keynotes and sessions led by experts from across East Africa, offering deep insights into the latest tech trends and challenges.
Hasmukh Chudasama, General Manager for East & Southern Africa at BUI, delivered the keynote speech titled “You’ve Been Hacked. What Next? Your Breach Response Plan.” During his session, Chudasama outlined the immediate actions organizations need to take after a hack, including incident containment, investigation, and communication strategies. Attendees learned how to minimize damage and swiftly restore operations after a breach.
As cybercriminals increasingly leverage sophisticated AI tools to launch attacks, defenders must adapt their strategies. A panel at the event discussed how organizations can use data stored on the cloud to detect and neutralize AI-powered cyber threats more effectively.
In another session, Allan Lwala, Cybersecurity and Forensics Lead at Xylem Networks, discussed the evolving role of cybersecurity professionals, the pressing issues facing the field, the most common mistakes made by professionals, and the challenges facing the next generation of cybersecurity experts.
The event in Uganda follows similar ones that were held in Tanzania and Rwanda. The roadshow now heads to Ethiopia on May 30, 2024. Follow the link to register.
