TARTA gets 11 new EV buses


A TARTA representative said much of the cost will be covered by federal and state grants received in 2023.

TOLEDO, Ohio — The TARTA board of trustees approved the arrival of 11 new electric vehicle (EV) buses for riders.

Andy Cole, TARTA Communication & Marketing Manager, confirmed the approval will be the agency’s first full-size electric vehicles, with a contract price cost of $13.2 million.

Cole said much of the cost will be covered by federal and state grants received by TARTA in 2023.

The 35-foot long buses are to be built by a manufacturer in California. A timeline for their arrival has not been provided at this time due to supply chain issues in the EV market.
