We Need Your Input! Take Our Community Survey
As we strive to meet the evolving needs of our community, we need your insights to guide our strategic planning for the Library. Your feedback is crucial in helping us understand what you value most about our services and what improvements you would like to see. The survey takes only 5-10 minutes, and closes on June 15. We look forward to hearing from you.

Virtual Author Talk: R. F. Kuang and Yellowface
When one budding author witnesses another’s death in a freak accident, she impulsively steals her manuscript and passes it off as her own, with harrowing consequences. Suffused with dark humor and sharp observation, Yellowface grapples with diversity, racism, and cultural appropriation, as well as the terrifying alienation of social media. New York Times bestselling author Kuang holds an MPhil from Cambridge University. Register. Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m.

Author Talk: James L. Parr and World War II Massachusetts
Over 500,000 Massachusetts residents answered the call to military duty during WWII, while the rest fought the war on the home front. They worked in factories, volunteered for Civil Defense, and took part in bond drives, while dealing with rationing and blackouts. James Parr reveals the stories of these dedicated citizens as they faced significant wartime challenges. In person or online. Register. Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m.

Finishing Touches: Medical Decisions
This is the second program in a three-part series. If you are unable to make decisions, how do you plan for care and make your wishes known to relatives and to first responders? Learn how you can prepare with Wayland Fire Chief Neil McPherson, Firefighter Todd Winner, and Cathleen Summers, RN, Esq. Sponsored by the Wayland Council on Aging, the Parmenter Foundation, and the Library. Register. Meeting at the Library and online. Wednesday, May 29 at 2 p.m.

The Hidden History of Black Boston
Commemorate Juneteenth by delving into the rich narratives of Black Boston neighborhoods and pivotal sites, events, and figures. Award-winning educator Joel Mackall leads a conversation that will roam from the eras of Faneuil Hall and Long Wharf to the vibrant communities that flourished in Beacon Hill in the early republic, and the South End and Roxbury in the early 20th century. This program will not be recorded. Registration required. Sunday, June 2 at 2:30 p.m.

Evening Book Group
Foster by Claire Keegan. A child is taken by her feckless father to live with relatives on a farm, not knowing when or if she will be brought home again. She finds an affection and warmth she has not known and begins to blossom. But there is something unspoken in this new, well-tended household, and summer must come to an end. In person and online. Contact btuttle@minlib.net for more information. Monday, June 3 at 7 p.m.
