Centre County 4-H Robotics shows off robots, prepares for open house
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WTAJ) – The Centre County 4-H Robotics team is gearing up for its open house and they gave some community members a sneak peek.
Their open house is set for May 28 from 6 – 8 p.m. at their build facility. However, before then, they wanted to show off what they could do.
In the last weeks six weeks, elementary, middle school, and high school teams have spent hours building robots. Each one is as unique as the teams that created them.
On May 21, shareholders and sponsors were invited to check out the team’s work. There was a robot that could fling rings, along with another that could pick up objects and put them on a board.
Those six weeks were spent designing, building and testing the machines, it’s quite the time crunch, but some added that it leads to more learning experiences.
“You learn a lot about just how it all comes together,” Nick Marzka, a 10th-grade student, said.
Through the demonstrations, their creativity and ingenuity is able to be on full display.

“They’re super creative,” Bill Jester, a mentor for the kids, said. “Every year they come up with ideas that we as mentors would never have thought of.”
