Reservations for Jeep’s first EV, Wagoneer S, set to open

Jeep will start taking reservations for its first all-electric vehicle, the Wagoneer S, on May 31 following a reveal event the day before in New York City, the brand said Wednesday.

Deliveries for the premium midsize SUV are expected this fall. Late in 2024 a second fully-electric Jeep, the Wrangler-inspired Recon SUV, also is set to launch, the Stellantis NV brand has said.

The new EVs will be built in North America, and eventually available globally, on Stellantis’ new STLA Large platform. Jeep hasn’t announced the plant location. As of now Jeep’s only electrified offerings are plug-in hybrids for the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. The existing gas-powered Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are the brand’s most luxury and large SUVs.

Ahead of next week’s reveal, and reservations opening at 9:30 a.m. EST on May 31. Jeep released a teaser video of the Wagoneer S on Wednesday that portrays it as a direct competitor to Tesla’s top-selling Model Y.

“We knew that after years of preparation and refinement, there would come a time to compete,” says a narrator as the new Jeep comes into view next to a Model Y on a southern California track, with Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa looking on.
