Boston Tech Leaders: Tye Brady, Amazon Robotics
BIOGRAPHY
Why a Tech Power Player? For contributions to robotics and artificial intelligence at an expanding tech giant.
Tye Brady, chief technologist at Amazon Robotics, has shaped the research and development of technologies for the industrial robotics company since 2015. In 2022, Brady and his team unveiled two new warehouse robots: the Sparrow system, which unpacks, identifies, and re-sorts items for delivery; and Proteus, which can navigate heavy carts through warehouses. Prior to Amazon, Brady spent more than two decades working in spacecraft engineering, most recently at the Cambridge-based Draper Laboratory as a distinguished member of the technical staff. He is also founding partner of MassRobotics, a nonprofit innovation center supporting robotics startups. Brady holds a bachelor of science in aerospace engineering from Boston University and a master of science in aeronautics and astronautics engineering from MIT.
