SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WIFR) – Loves Park and Rochelle will get new electric vehicle charging stations as part of grants from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
On Wednesday, Illinois EPA Director John J. Kim announced $25.1 million will be split among 20 grant recipients for EV fast charging stations. More than 600 new Direct Current Fast Charging ports and 141 locations will be funded through the grants.
Pilot Travel Centers and Road Ranger each received grants of more than $1 million which will create fast charging stations in various locations, including Rochelle. Red E Charging LLC was awarded more than $2 million which will bring more EV chargers to Loves Park, along with other locations around the state.
