Drivers rave over new ‘luxurious’ Cadillac EV as company boasts it comes with 10-min perk for those with ‘range anxiety’ – The US Sun
A NEW luxury electric vehicle is hitting the market in the Fall
Cadillac surprised many car enthusiasts with the reveal of its new luxury entry-level Optiq EV in late 2023.
While the initial announcement last November showcased its design, the brand withheld details about the new car until now.
Cadillac finally disclosed more information on the new electric vehicle and its features, including its starting price and range.
The 2025 Optiq will start at $54,000 when it goes on sale later this year, competitively priced against higher trims of the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and even the Tesla Model Y.
Key features of the new Optiq include its foundation on GM’s Ultium Platform, featuring an 85-kWh battery and a standard dual-motor all-wheel drive system with 300 horsepower, 354 lb-ft of torque, and an estimated 300 miles of range before needing a charge.
And when the battery does get low, its DC fast charging capability, which can add 79 miles of range in just 10 minutes, is a convenient way to keep the trip going with minimal wait times.
Other notable features include one-pedal driving and Regen on Demand, allowing drivers to decelerate or stop using a paddle on the steering wheel.
The exterior of the Optiq resembles a more refined, tech-forward version of the XT4.
Measuring 190 inches in length, the Optiq is 10 inches longer and an inch taller than the XT4.
Storage space is also enhanced, offering 26 cubic feet behind the second row and expanding to 57 cubic feet with both rows folded.
Aesthetically, the Optiq boasts a fixed glass roof, a black crystal grille, and unique greeting lighting.
Meanwhile, the interior is equipped with advanced technology and features typical of most modern EVs.
This includes 33 inches of screen space across the dashboard, a suite of driver safety aids, a standard 19-speaker KG Audio System with Dolby Atmos.
It also comes with a standard SuperCruise hands-free driving technology, complimentary for the first three years.
With the added benefit of the EV tax credit, Cadillac may see a strong demand for this new model as it hits dealerships.
Since the announcement, motorheads have been debating about the car on X, formerly Twitter.
“This is interesting. Tesla better step up the model Y refresh,” wrote one user.
“This doesn’t seem like a very good deal unless you really want a Cadillac,” said someone else.
“Anyone who appreciates a solid interior will get this over a tesla,” replied another.
“Model Y interior is just laughable for a $50K vehicle,” they continued
The Optiq will be available in Luxury and Sports trims when production begins this fall.
