IIT Hyderabad’s Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship Secures $9.6M Funding from ESKEYN Ventures Founder

In a significant boost to innovation and entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector, the Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has garnered a substantial funding injection of $9.6 million (approximately ₹80 crore). The investment comes from ESKEYN Ventures and Tanushree Foundation Founder, Sushant Kumar, aiming to foster the indigenisation of technologies in healthcare.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the collaboration, Sushant Kumar remarked, “A substantial portion of the investment will help CfHE expand its initiatives nurturing aspiring healthcare entrepreneurs and provide them with the resources, mentorship and networking opportunities.”
The spokesperson for IIT Hyderabad highlighted the pivotal role of the centre in catalysing the development of solutions aimed at addressing unmet healthcare needs and enhancing patient outcomes. He affirmed, “The centre is working to accelerate the development of solutions to address unmet needs and improve patient outcomes.”
CfHE, over its eight-year journey, has emerged as a hotbed for healthcare innovation, incubating notable start-ups that have made significant strides in the industry. Among these ventures are BeAble Health Pvt Ltd, creator of ArmAble, a neurorehabilitation device for stroke patients; NemoCare Wellness Pvt Ltd, developer of NemoCare Raksha, an IoT-enabled wearable for safeguarding neonates; and Jivika Healthcare Pvt Ltd, pioneers of a vaccine-on-wheels platform facilitating the last-mile delivery of vaccines.
The centre’s impact extends beyond incubation, having upskilled over 75 entrepreneurs who are at the helm of more than 30 start-ups in the medical devices and diagnostics domain.
