St. Lucie firefighters need 20,000 gallons of water on electric vehicle battery fire

An electric vehicle’s battery caught fire and had to be put out by two Special Operation teams from the St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD).

The Special Operations teams sprang into action Sunday morning around 9:45 a.m. in response to a Nissan Leaf battery fire on the 5000 block of US1, according to SLCFD.

SLFCD reported that firefighters had to carefully move the car away from a building and its fuel tanks before they could effectively tackle the blaze.
