Smith+Nephew launches pre-op planning tech for surgical robotics

announced today that it launched its new CorioGraph pre-operative planning and modeling services.

The platform — exclusively for the Cori surgical robot system — offers a solution for partial and total knee arthroplasty procedures. Cori is the only orthopedic robotic-assisted system offering either intraoperative image-free or image-based registration, enabling the surgeon to choose whether or not to perform a pre-operative MRI scan, according to a news release.

Smith+Nephew said Dr. Steven Haas performed the first procedures using CorioGraph and the RI.Knee Robotics 3.0 software.

“We are now truly personalizing surgery and advancing efficiencies with RI.Knee 3.0 and CorioGraph services,” Haas said. “Providing the ability to choose the right imaging modality represents the next paradigm for individualized patient care and brings orthopedic robotics to another level.”

Cori — which featured on MassDevice’s list of surgical robotic technology you need to know — offers proprietary tools and AI-driven software. Across the full suite of procedure solutions, its platform delivers flexibility and scalability for joint arthroplasty indications.

Smith+Nephew built its CorioGraph services from more than 15 years of clinical expertise and more than 350,000 image-based surgery plans. The company designed it to optimize procedures and enable intraoperative efficiencies in conjunction with RI.Knee 3.0. The RI.Knee 3.0 software offers image-agnostic registration functionality and support for pre-cut tensioning.
