Microsoft President Testifies on Cybersecurity Failures

Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith testified before the House Homeland Security Committee on recent cybersecurity failures. In 2023, Chinese hackers breached email accounts at several federal agencies, including the Commerce and State Departments. Lawmakers questioned Microsoft on their operations in China and discussed actions Microsoft has taken to prevent future cybersecurity threats from China, Russia and other nation-states. Additional topics included artificial intelligence (AI), prioritizing security in product design, partnering with the federal government to prevent threats, and mitigating thousands of daily cyber and ransomware attacks. close
