Hyundai, Verisk Analytics Sued For Selling Driving-Behavior Data


Hyundai Motor America and data-broker Verisk Analytics Inc. provided driving-behavior data to auto insurers in violation of state and federal privacy laws, a proposed federal class action filed Friday said.

Plaintiff Howard Miller alleged that Hyundai’s “Driving Score” program collected information about drivers’ mileage, speed, braking, and acceleration, and disclosed that information to Verisk, which sold it to insurance companies for use in setting premium rates.
