India’s fintech sector to participate in 9th Global Economic Summit | Mumbai News


The fintech sector will participate in the 9th Global Economic Summit (GES), scheduled from August 8-10, 2024. To be organized by the World Trade Center Mumbai and the All India Association of Industries, the event’s theme is FinTech: Accelerating the Digital Revolution.

India, a global leader in FinTech innovations such as secure payment systems, paperless lending, mobile banking, and digital wallets, ranks third globally in this sector, behind only the USA and China.

The Summit will address how digital solutions can meet the credit needs of small businesses, women entrepreneurs, and underserved communities. Topics include paperless credit, new credit scoring methods, and digital payments.

Dr Vijay Kalantri, chairman of MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai, said, “India has the fastest-growing FinTech industry in the world. This Summit will connect local companies with global partners, fostering investment and business opportunities.”

Pointing out the relevance of the Summit theme, Rupa Naik, MVIRDC’s executive director said, “The fast-growing fintech sector has transformed the lives of millions of consumers and businesses, ranging from self-employed persons to women entrepreneurs and large corporate houses. Fintech is the key driver of financial inclusion, gender equality, easy access to credit in rural areas and sustainable development goals.”

The Summit will be supported by ONDC, an open e-commerce network and shall comprise of conference, exhibition, networking session, and awards ceremony.
