MGA hosts breakout sessions for student Robotics Bootcamp
MACON, Ga. (WGXA) — Middle Georgia State University (MGA) recently held breakout sessions for this year’s student Robotics Bootcamp.
Taking place from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at MGA’s Professional Science Center (PSC), the breakout sessions provided an excellent opportunity for students to engage in hands-on activities.
The event was funded from the 21st Century Partnership, which is part of a Georgia Tech federal grant for Georgia Artificial Intelligence and Manufacturing (AIM). There are about $4 million available in this grant to promote the STEM workforce in Middle Georgia.
“We’re exposing the students to STEM careers, STEM education, hopefully that they’ll continue their STEM careers in the four-year college program or even the two-year vocational schools to really help out the workforce in the state of Georgia,” said Bob Herrmann, Executive Director of Middle Georgia’s STEM Alliance.
“A lot of the students are thriving in this environment, and want more and more educational backgrounds, and more educational opportunities in STEM fields,” said Herrmann. “So we do things like Python programming challenges, Java programming challenges, and then boot camps to actually learn and function in those types of career fields.”
