Meet the first Artificial Intelligence candidate running for UK parliament

London: When the United Kingdom goes to polls on July 4, voters in the Brighton Pavillion might be surprised to see an Artificial Intelligence candidate, ‘AI Steve’ on the ballots. An AI candidate running for the parliament or any elections is happening for the first time in the history.

The AI candidate is represented by a British businessman Steve Endacott. It is told in the website of the AI candidate, that the Sussex-based entrepreneur, if voted to victory, will attend the parliament to “vote on policies as guided by AI Steve’s feedback” from constituents.

The AI candidate was created and powered by “Neural Voice” and the voters from the constituency can directly interact with him. “AI Steve was created to ensure that the people of Brighton and Hove had 24/7 access to leave opinions and create policies,” says the AI Steve website.

The voters can ask questions and give their opinion on policies at its website. AI Steve will recruit people from the constituency who will be divided into two groups- creators and validators. The creators will create policies while validators will approve them. Policies that get 50 percent acceptance will be adopted. Additionally, the validators will also control the votes of AI Steve in the parliament.

“What an Amazing Concept! I spoke to AI STEVE about my bins issue, and within minutes, we had devised a policy! He now recommends adding trackers to bin collection lorries, optimising routes based on demand and charging for higher usage, based on my comments. This is the first time I’ve had a politician listen to me,” a resident (Cathy Rankin) said on AI Steve’s website.

AI Steve promises to cut tuition fees by 50 percent for UK born students and advocates increasing affordable housing.

Who is Steve Endacott:

Steve Endacott, the Sussex-based entrepreneur is the face behind ‘AI Steve’ and he will walk into parliament, if the AI candidate wins the polls. “Endacott has been a company director for 25 years and is used to leading large teams of business, giving clear leadership,” says the AI-Steve website.
