Leach cautioned against relying on AI models such as ChatGPT for sensitive business operations, such as customer data analysis, due to potential data exposure risks. SMBs, he said, should use multifactor authentication and monitoring tools to oversee AI model outputs, ensuring compliance and security.

“There is a lot of more scrutiny coming to the technology providers of frontier large language models that have to be transparent,” Leach said. “On a larger scale, there’s probably more GRC attention because they are more mature and they are being audited by regulators and third parties more frequently.”

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at Infosecurity Europe 2024, Leach discussed:

  • The risks of using public AI models for proprietary or sensitive data;
  • The need for basic AI policies and awareness programs for staff;
  • Why financial institutions must prepare for incidents and comply with regulations.

Leach has spent more than 25 years educating and advocating for the advancement of responsible technology to improve the quality of living and parity for all. He sits on several advisory boards as an expert in information security and financial payments. He is a member of the CyberEdBoard.
