$20,000 FPL Robotics Scholarship for High School Seniors

Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) has announced the opening of
applications for its FPL Robotics Scholarship, dedicated to high school seniors
who show a strong passion and potential in robotics. The $20,000 scholarship
will be awarded to one deserving student to support their higher education in a
STEM-related field at an accredited college or university.

This initiative is part of FPL’s commitment to fostering the growth of
future leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Sarah Marmion, FPL’s Senior Manager of Community Engagement and Educational
Programs, expressed enthusiasm for the scholarship’s role in promoting
essential skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork through
robotics.

“Robotics presents an incredible platform for students to develop vital
skills needed in today’s rapidly evolving world,” Marmion said. “We
are excited to once again offer this scholarship to help cultivate the next
generation of STEM leaders.”

The scholarship has significantly impacted past recipients, such as Ahum
Dhruv, the 2023 scholarship winner. “With the scholarship, I have more
time to focus on my classes and less worry about financial burdens. It’s a huge
support,” Dhruv commented.

Eligible students must be high school seniors within FPL’s service area,
having participated in a FIRST Tech Challenge or FIRST Robotics Competition for
at least two years. Applications are open from March 18 to May 15, 2024, and
can be submitted online at www.FPL.com/Education
under STEM Grants and Scholarship.
