About the Gilliam Center for Entrepreneurship
In July 1985, the Center for Entrepreneurship was founded as an interdisciplinary unit of the
College of Business of James Madison University.
After receiving the largest gift in JMU’s history in fall 2018, the center was renamed as the Gilliam Center
for Entrepreneurship (GCFE) in honor of leader and philanthropist Leslie Flanary Gilliam (’82).
The GCFE supports academic and scholarly activities, programs and events related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and venture creation.
