Alibaba Cloud innovates. The data intelligence and digital technology branch of the Chinese group Alibaba, global partner of the IOC within the TOP program, announces something new for the Paris 2024 Games: a multi-camera rebroadcast service improved by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Developed with OBS, the IOC subsidiary responsible for producing Games images, it was first introduced at the Beijing 2022 Winter Games for the curling and speed skating events. More recently, it was used last month in Shanghai for urban sports during the Olympic Qualifier Series. The cloud-based multi-camera broadcast system allows the Games to be viewed from multiple angles. At the Paris 2024 Games, footage captured by cameras positioned around venues will be transformed into cloud-based 3D models with high-quality textures. Result: more fluid and realistic actions, with an immersive and cohesive 3D reconstruction of competition scenes. The AI-based replay system will be implemented at 12 competition venues, including beach volleyball, tennis, judo and rugby sevens.
