Amsterdam’s Moodus acquires assets of fintech firm ACTOLL to grow and innovate in the donation sector
Amsterdam-based Moodus, a company that facilitates contactless donations, has acquired the assets of ACTOLL, a French fintech company owned by Matawan. Ahmed Ali, co-founder of Moodus, announced the development via a LinkedIn post.
Ali says, this strategic move expands Moodus’s presence in France, boosts growth, and enhances innovation in the donation sector.
“A big thank you to Jérôme Tredan and Jean-paul MEDIONI from Matawan for their collaboration and vision throughout this deal. Your partnership has been instrumental in making this acquisition a reality,” adds Ali.
Brief about ACTOLL
Since its establishment in 1996, ACTOLL has been creating information systems for motorway tolls, urban tolls, and public transport ticket dispensers.
The company works under the mandate of the Autorités Organisatrices de Transport Public (Public Transport Organising Authorities) and the entire Sociétés d’Autoroutes Françaises (French Motorway Companies).
ACTOLL aims to bridge diverse sectors of transportation, fostering seamless mobility.
The firm is expanding its export operations by establishing a subsidiary in Quebec, known as ACTOLL Intelligent Transportation Systems Development Corporation Inc. This move aligns with ACTOLL’s international growth strategy, aiming to deliver transport solutions both in France and globally.
ACTOLL is owned by Matawan, a company streamlining daily travel by integrating public transport with various mobility options, promoting sustainable mobility.
Moodus, enabling contactless donations
Founded in 2016 by Ahmed Ali and Tim Smit, Moodus claims to provide a swift, easy and compassionate collection of contactless donations, supporting various causes daily.
According to the company, in the Netherlands, 80 per cent of transactions are digital, with 85 per cent being contactless. Despite this, most donations are still made with cash, a trend worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic.
To address this gap, the company launched Moodus Give in April 2020, offering an accessible and “user-friendly” donation platform.
Now, with over 100 donation terminals across the Netherlands and Belgium, Moodus Give serves various sectors including hospitals, restaurants, museums, theaters, charities, and zoos. The minimum donation that can be made is €1 and the maximum amount is €25.
Any organisation registered with the Chamber of Commerce can use Moodus Give.
