Another electric vehicle start-up runs out of road


Henrik Fisker, the former designer of James Bond sports cars for Aston Martin, thought he had it all figured out when he founded his eponymous car company.

Fisker Inc was billed as a rival to Tesla when it launched in 2016 with the aim of bringing electric vehicles to the mass market.

The company, based in Manhattan Beach, California, went public in 2020 in a merger with a blank-cheque firm, valuing it at $2.9 billion.

Run by a husband-and-wife team, Fisker was chairman and chief executive and heavily involved in vehicle design, while Dr Geeta-Gupta Fisker served as chief financial officer and chief operating officer.
