Apart From Generative AI Features, iOS 18 Will Be All About Deeper Integration Between Apps On The iPhone
AI will be a central part of iOS 18, as the company is working to introduce new large language models that will be implemented system-wide. The utilities will make iOS 18 the biggest update the iPhone has ever received, but we are also expecting a boatload of new additions, visually and functionality-wise. We are now hearing that the company is looking to upgrade the Calendar app with deeper integration with the Reminder app in iOS 18.
iOS 18 to bring tighter app integration between Calendar and Reminders app
Discovered recently, iOS 18 will revamp the Notes app with voice notes and calculator integration. The app will be able to record voice memos from within the app and work with complex notations. This means that the company is seeking internal integration between apps in iOS 18, which could give the iPhone a major productivity boost. Users would not have to switch between apps to accomplish tasks.
That said, we are now hearing that the company is also looking to tightly integrate the Calendar and Reminder apps together. According to AppleInsider, users will be able to schedule and organize reminders from the Calendar app in iOS 18. The scheduled reminders will be available in daily, weekly, and monthly formats.
This deeper integration between apps will allow users to complete a task in a single app while removing complexity. Moreover, the change will potentially arrive in iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 as well for easier syncing between different Apple products. It was also recently heard from the same source that the company is planning to introduce various changes in Safari, including summarization and “Web Eraser” tools. However, note that these are mere speculations and reports based on early information, and the company could have different plans for the platform.
It appears that iOS 18 will house a handful of new changes that will transform how users use the iPhone. It was previously stated by analyst Mark Gurman that iOS 18 will be the biggest update the iPhone has received since its launch. While the above-mentioned changes are pretty major, generative AI technology under the hood would still be the highlight of Apple’s upcoming update for the iPhone.
Apple is working on a wide range of AI tools for the iPhone, which would allow it to better compete against Google and OpenAI. It will host the WWDC event in June to announce iOS 18 and additional updates for its entire product line. Do you think Apple will bring major visual changes to iOS 18? Let us know in the comments.
