Apple WWDC 2024: With AI Intelligence, Apple’s next frontier could be robots — what we know so far – Technology News

As the world seems to be accepting robots and trying to bring them into our daily lives, Apple might be on the lookout for bringing the first smart home robots.

With all eyes set on the Apple WWDC event 2024, reports suggest that Apple might be ready with its plan to launch smart home robots. These smart home robots can help to navigate your home.

Smart home Robots: Apple’s next big plan?

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman explained that Apple’s robotics projects will be taken care of by Ex-Google employee John Giannandrea, who was in charge of making Siri and the Apple Car. With the car project canceled, Vision Pro launched, and “Apple Intelligence” around the corner.

But what can make Apple’s smart home robots different? Like there are already existing robots by Boston Dynamics, which has its Atlas robot and Tesla pursuing robotics, among others. Can Apple’s proposed smart home robots organise things, fly or run? go up and down the stairs? Or even for that matter find things? Apple’s robotics ideas seem to fit a trend of charming novelty bots that we’ve seen lately, says Gurman.

Experts suggest that Apple’s entry into humanoid robotics can bring a transformative shift in the tech industry. Critics argued that some of the existing robots are quite chaotic. Contrary to this, as Apple uses its AI expertise, we can expect advancements in smart home integration and personal robotics. Gurman also suggests that humanoid Apple robots can take decades to come into the picture. However, smaller robots and robots having iPad displays with arms, can just be a year or two away.

Industry reacts!

“Apple’s move will likely speed up innovation, even prompting competitors to intensify their efforts in AI and robotics. The anticipated growth in this sector could revolutionise daily life, enhancing productivity and convenience. With Apple’s entry, the tech space is poised for creating a new era of intelligent, interconnected devices that seamlessly blend into our everyday routines,”  Devroop Dhar, co-founder and managing director, Primus Partners, explained.

“As technology continues to advance in areas such as mobile grasping, navigation, and generative AI, it’s certain that a new generation of private, multi-functional robots will be available in the next decade to revolutionize our lifestyle,” Rajesh Kumar, Robotics and AI Architect, Addverb, highlighted.

However, “ Apple’s proposed Smart Home Robots with AI, need to ensure compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ( DPDP) , which aims to provide a comprehensive framework for data protection, in relation to data being collected, processed, and stored,” Siddharth Chandrasekhar, advocate and counsel, Bombay High Court, concluded.
