AWS makes US$230 million commitment to generative AI startups – ARN

“For 18 years, AWS has helped more startups build, launch, and scale than any other cloud provider — it’s no coincidence that 96 per cent of all AI/ML [machine learning] unicorns run on AWS,” said Matt Taylor.

AWS has also increased the number of startups eligible for the Generative AI Accelerator, which is aimed at helping 80 founders (including 20 from Asia Pacific and Japan) and innovators, up from 21 founders in 2023.

“These two complementary accelerator programs will help startups at various stages of growth in the APJ region to drive innovations on our generative AI stack,” Taylor added.

The AWS Generative AI Spotlight program in APJ collaborates with venture capital firms and organisations in Australia including Stone & Chalk and Build Club.

Applications for the AWS Spotlight Program are open from 13 June to 30 June and selected startups will be announced in July 2024.

In November last year, local startup generative AI content production platform Leonardo.AI told ARN it had experienced exponential growth in less than a year, particularly after switching over to AWS to support its ambitions.
