The official opening of Bechtel’s campus-style office facility in Frederick will be marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, August 23, at 2:00 p.m.

Hosting the ceremony will be David L. Brannen, a Bechtel Principal Vice President and manager of the new facility. Joining him in the ceremony will be Adrian Zaccaria, President and Chief Operating Officer of Bechtel Group, and Darrell D. Donly, President of Bechtel North America. Expected guests include Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Lieutenant Governor of Maryland; Maryland Secretary of State John T. Willis; James S. Grimes, Mayor of Frederick; David P. Gray, President of the Frederick County Commission; and County Commissioners Jan Garder, Ilona Hogan, Terry Rhoderick, and John Thompson, Jr.

The Frederick campus will be the international and North America headquarters for both Bechtel Fossil Power and Nuclear Power and the international headquarters for Bechtel Telecommunications. They are units of the San Francisco-based Bechtel Group, one of the world’s premier engineering, construction, and project management companies. Founded over 100 years ago, privately-held Bechtel has completed more than 20,000 projects in 140 countries on all seven continents. With more than 40,000 employees around the globe, Bechtel was recently ranked number one on Engineering News-Record magazine’s May 31, 1999, list of the Top 400 Contractors
