Daniela Rus is an MIT roboticist whose research focuses on developing algorithms and systems to integrate autonomous robots into the world’s everyday tasks. Her research pushes the envelope on what machines can do; she has developed self-driving golf carts, the BakeBot robot chef, and a silicone robot fish that can swim through water on its own. At MIT, Rus is the Andrew (1956) and Erna Viterbi Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the director of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. Rus has also served on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, where she contributed insights to the White House related to her work as a computer scientist. Rus holds a doctorate in computer science from Cornell University.
