BYD takes the wheel from Tesla in China’s EV price war

GUANGZHOU/SHANGHAI — BYD has fired a fresh salvo in China’s electric vehicle price war with a new sport utility vehicle launched this month, as a wide range of players from local startups to Tesla feel the pressure of ever-falling prices.

“BYD will beat the competition by electrifying cars and making them smarter,” Senior Vice President He Zhiqi said at an event on May 10.
