CEO Vicki Brady says 2800 roles to go in restructure
Telecommunications giant Telstra is axing up to 2800 jobs by the end of the year, slicing a massive chunk out of its enterprise workforce as it struggles to compete against cheaper internet-based communications services.
The telco giant also plans to stop its traditional annual inflation-linked price reviews for its monthly mobile plans, giving it leeway to raise prices on its own terms. Telstra wants the “flexibility to adjust prices at different times,” Telstra chief executive Vicki Brady said on Tuesday.
