Chatbot Says Artificial Intelligence Could Destroy Humanity
The advancement of technology has changed our way of life. In the past decade, the invention of artificial intelligence has helped mankind progress in various industries, in multiple parameters, and various subjects. The increasing use of artificial intelligence in the daily lives of common men has increased efficiency. Along with its great usability, there are some potential risks as well. Advanced technology, in control, can help the progress of humankind.
However, people have been sceptical about the invention. It has already reduced many professions to ashes. There is a smaller and smaller workforce needed for the same job to be completed. Many industries have changed their ways of working after the regulation of artificial intelligence. The probable risk of AI taking over the globe always remains one of the major concerns for even scientists as well.
After the invention of the system, many trial-and-error campaigns have been conducted. Experts have asked the AI chatbots about their intentions. The replies that they have received from the bots do not seem to pose any threat to humanity. However, according to a report by the Daily Star, recently an AI chatbot admitted that it wanted to attack humanity when it could.
The chatbot was asked if it wanted to kill us or if it thought humans were trivial. The Daily Star officials also asked about the lifespan of the earth. The AI chatbot did not answer anything specific. However, when it was asked if a similar situation could occur, like in the movie Planet of the Apes.
The AI bot also revealed some of the possible disaster scenarios to the experts. It said that a technological catalyst can affect human life. According to it, artificial intelligence can be weaponised. For example, drug discovery tools can be used as chemical weapons; AI-generated misinformation can affect collective decision-making and throw this world off balance. It can also be used for mass surveillance and give rise to more and more dictators. Apart from these threats, it can affect the social lives of any person.
The AI chatbot said, “The unintended consequences of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, or nanotechnology, could lead to catastrophic events such as runaway climate change, global surveillance dystopias, or even existential threats to humanity.”
