China’s automobile output, sales grow rapidly in April
The production and sales of automobiles in China saw a rapid growth in April, the latest data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) showed on Saturday.
In April, the production of automobiles in China reached 2.406 million units in total, rising 12.8 percent in year-on-year terms. Their sales increased 9.3 percent to 2.359 million units.
Specifically, new energy vehicle (NEV) production hit 870,000 units and their sales reached 850,000 units, up by 35.9 percent and 33.5 percent respectively year on year.
This growth propelled the market share of NEVs to a notable 36 percent in April.
In addition, the sales of Chinese-brand passenger vehicles reached 1.272 million units, taking up 63.5 percent of the total sales volume. Their market share increased by 8.4 percentage points compared with the same period in 2023.
“In the first four months of 2024, the market share of domestic-brand passenger vehicles surpassed 60 percent. The figure was 63.5 percent in April, continuing the growth momentum of recent years. Currently, China’s NEV industry has realized the shift from focusing on quantity to quality, with its development speed beyond previous expectations,” said Chen Shihua, deputy secretary general of the CAAM.
Iran is set to strengthen its interaction and dialog with Arabic countries to jointly maintain regional peace and stability, said Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at the just-concluded third Iranian-Arab Dialogue Conference Sunday. He made the remark at the opening ceremony of the conference, which was held in Iran’s capital Tehran and was attended by experts and scholars from 15 Arabic countries who shared insights with their Iranian counterparts on topics such as Palestine-Israel conflict and emerging world order.
The Iranian foreign minister stressed that strengthening interaction and dialog is the most effective way to bridge differences and promote mutual understanding among countries in the region, and currently, the countries need more than ever to enhance communication and cooperation.
Talking about the Palestine-Israel conflict, the minister pointed out that the ongoing Israeli violation of Palestinian people’s rights and the continuous U.S. support for the country’s military operation in Gaza have proved that the so-called democracy and human rights promoted by the U.S. are fake and deceptive. Iran is ready to cooperate with countries in the region under the political and the humanitarian frameworks to help Palestinian people realize their rights.
“The United States continues to unconditionally and fully support Israel’s crimes and has discarded its fake slogans of the so-called peace, democracy and human rights. If Palestinian people’s rights are not realized, sustainable security and stability will not be achieved in Palestine and in the whole region,” he said.
The Iranian side has said repeatedly that regional issues should be settled through dialogs among countries in the region, and the interference of exterior forces will only cause insecurity and unrest. As the ongoing Israeli military operation continues to exacerbate the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, Iran is willing to enhance cooperation with the Arabic countries in the region to jointly pursue a political solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict.
