Chinese Robotic Vacuum Cleaners Sell Out in 13 Minutes
Chinese robotic vacuum cleaners are accelerating their penetration into the domestic market, and it’s not just Roborock leading the charge. Another prominent Chinese brand, Dreame, achieved a record sell-out in just 13 minutes on Naver Shopping Live on the day of its new product release.
According to online appliance stores on June 4, among the high-end robotic vacuum cleaners priced over 1,000,000 won, Chinese companies dominate in sales. At Lotte Hi-Mart’s online store, the Roborock and Dreame models, ranging in price from 1,000,000 to 1,700,000 won, took the top three spots in sales. The Roborock “Q Revo Pro” clinched the first place, followed by Dreame’s “L20 Ultra” and “L10 Ultra.” At ElectroLand’s online store, Roborock products also topped the list among vacuum cleaners priced over 1,000,000 won.
As Roborock solidifies its position as a leading robotic vacuum brand, Dreame is intensifying its efforts in the Korean market. Dreame unveiled its new “X40 Ultra” robotic vacuum model on June 3. The company claims significant enhancements in core functionalities compared to the previous “L20 Ultra,” especially highlighting its industry-leading suction power of 12,000 Pascal (Pa). Dreame quickly sold out the new model through Naver Shopping Live on its launch day.
Following the release of the L20 Ultra in 2022, Dreame reported an annual growth rate exceeding 1,562%. The company operates over 4,000 brick-and-mortar stores in more than 100 countries, including the U.S., Germany, and France. Earlier, Roborock introduced a new “S8 MaxV Ultra” high-end model priced above 1,500,000 won. Already commanding nearly 80% of the domestic high-end robotic vacuum market, Roborock plans to further solidify its position.
The success of Chinese companies in the high-end robotic vacuum cleaner market is attributed to superior technology and swift market capture. By offering robotic vacuums that combine vacuuming and mopping functions, these companies initially targeted consumer wallets and continued to enhance their technology to cement their products as market leaders.
In response, domestic companies are also stepping up. Samsung Electronics has recently launched the “Bespoke AI Steam” model, aiming to catch up with Chinese manufacturers. Meanwhile, LG Electronics plans to release an all-in-one robotic vacuum cleaner that includes both vacuum and mopping functions.
