City of St. Cloud Honors Team for Swift Recovery from Cybersecurity Incident

At the regular City Council meeting, the City of St. Cloud honored a dedicated team of employees as the Team of the Month for their outstanding efforts in the wake of a significant cybersecurity incident in late March. This team swiftly led the restoration and rebuilding of the city’s network infrastructure.

Their achievements include:

• Restoring and wiping over 700 devices.
• Rebuilding more than 90 servers.
• Recovering over 90 terabytes of data.
• Ensuring timely processing of all bills and payroll.

Typically, municipalities recovering from cyber incidents face downtime ranging from 30 to 180 days. Remarkably, St. Cloud’s team completed the entire recovery process in just 21 days, significantly surpassing national averages.

Their prompt and effective response ensured minimal disruption to city operations, highlighting their exceptional commitment and technical expertise in managing and overcoming cyber threats.
