Clean energy to be discussed at Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club meeting
“Clean Energy: The Vernon County-scape” is the topic of the next Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club meeting.
The meeting will be held at the Food Enterprise Center, 1201 N. Main St., Viroqua, Wednesday, June 12. Networking starts at 5:30 p.m., the program begins at 6 p.m.
The speaker will be Alicia Leinberger, the executive director of the Vernon County Energy District. Leinberger first began her work in renewable energy in 2002, founding and operating the non-profit Seventh Generation Energy Systems in Madison. She moved to Viroqua and founded Ethos Renewable Power in 2013 to install solar electric, battery storage, and other electrification technology serving southwest Wisconsin. In 2020, she and other community members formed the non-profit Vernon County Energy District, to promote electrification, decarbonization, and locally owned renewable power.
She will discuss the benefits of generating your own power for your home or business, and what incentives are available. She will also talk about what innovation and entrepreneurial opportunities there are in clean energy. Entrepreneurs who are interested in meaningful work that addresses both rising energy costs, and also reduces carbon emissions, will find this emerging energy sector rewarding and abundant, according to the press release.
