Columbus State University to expand robotics program with building on Fort Moore

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A major addition is expected to be added to our local state university’s robotics program.

Columbus State University (CSU) has signed an agreement with Fort Moore to add an on-post building dedicated to robotics engineering.

The 25,000-square-foot building will give students space to test and fly drones. Students will also be able to operate an intricate tracking system.

The robotic program’s director at CSU had this to say on the upcoming addition.

“Fort Moore has been a steadfast partner with our Robotics Engineering program at Columbus State since its inception in 2019,” said Dr. Mahmut Reyhanoglu. “This extension of that partnership will provide us the room to finally test the equipment we have already acquired and give us the space to provide real hands-on experiences to our students and researchers.”

The space is expected to be ready by August.
