Condoms, gutka and stones found in samosas at automobile major’s canteen in Pune – India News

The Pimpri Chinchwad (Maharashtra) police initiated an investigation and apprehended a suspect after discovering condoms, gutka and stones in numerous samosas served at the canteen of a prominent automobile major. Initial police probe suggests that this adulteration was a deliberate act orchestrated by a subcontractor whose contract had been terminated previously, according to The Indian Express.

An FIR was lodged at Chikhali police station by the general manager of a catering services firm based in Aundh, responsible for supplying food to the company’s canteen. According to a police official, on March 27, employees discovered condoms, banned gutka, paan masala and stones in the samosas served at the canteen, prompting the catering company to file a complaint.

Further investigation revealed that the catering contractor had subcontracted the samosa supply to a local entity, which was terminated after an incident where an adhesive bandage was found in the food. This subcontract was then given to another entity. However, it was found that the previous sub-contractor had deliberately sent two employees to work for the new sub-contractor to sabotage the business.

As a result, five individuals, including the operators of the supplier firm and the two employees involved in the sabotage, have been booked.

Meanwhile, on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), there are claims circulating that the automobile major involved is Tata Motors. Additionally, a video is circulating on social media depicting individuals wearing Tata Motors branded shirts and holding plates of samosas.

Senior Inspector Dnyaneshwar Katkar confirmed the arrest of one person from the initial subcontractor entity and stated that the investigation is ongoing. The police have invoked Section 328 of the Indian Penal Code, relating to causing harm to individuals by administering poison or harmful substances.
