Cybersecurity Education and Training Assistance Program
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) launched the Cybersecurity Education and Training Assistance Program (CETAP) to support its efforts in building and strengthening a national cybersecurity workforce pipeline capacity through enabling elementary and secondary cybersecurity education, including by providing foundational cybersecurity awareness and literacy, encouraging cybersecurity career exploration, and supporting the teaching of cybersecurity skills at the elementary and secondary education levels.
Current CETAP Recipient
- CYBER.ORG
Funded by CISA’s CETAP cooperative agreement, is a non-profit organization that targets K-12 students with cyber career awareness, curricular resources, and educator professional development. By developing and distributing cybersecurity content to students and educators across the country at no cost, CYBER.ORG is helping to increase cyber literacy among the nation’s youngest learners. To learn more about available resources and upcoming CYBER.ORG events, please visit www.cyber.org or email info@cyber.org for more information.
- Project REACH
Project Realizing Equitable Access to Cybersecurity in High School REACH is a program that connects K-12 schools to minority-serving institutions (historically Black colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving institutions, etc.) to diversify and bolster the U.S. cybersecurity workforce. The initiative provides cybersecurity activities, classroom support, campus visits and more. To find out more about Project REACH, including information on joining the K-12 team, becoming an Outreach Provider and joining as a minority-serving institution, visit Cyber.org/projectreach.
- Project Access
Project Access focuses on introducing blind and vision-impaired students to cybersecurity and the possibility of cyber careers. Through a series of camps in partnership with local organizations that help blind and vision-impaired students between the ages of 12-21, students are introduced to cybersecurity topics through immersive experiences that are fully compatible with assistive technology such as screen readers or magnification software. This helps give blind and vision- impaired students the confidence and knowledge necessary to pursue higher education and technology careers. To find out more about Project Access, visit Cyber.org/projectaccess.
- CYBER.ORG Range
The CYBER.ORG Range is a no-cost, safe, virtual environment for K-12 students to learn cybersecurity skills. The CYBER.ORG Range is a cloud-based environment capable of running virtual machines with access to the internet but closed off from any private networks. By launching these machines in a web browser, no additional hardware or software is necessary to practice cybersecurity concepts. Since its launch in 2022, the CYBER.ORG Range has been deployed in all states and is currently being used in classrooms by over 1,500 teachers nationwide. To learn more about the CYBER.ORG Range and to apply for access, visit www.cyber.org/range.
