Decatur seeks input on electric vehicle infrastructure needs

DECATUR — The city of Decatur is seeking public feedback about electric vehicle knowledge and where charging stations and other infrastructure would be best deployed in the city.

Officials said the survey, at surveymonkey.com/r/YCMNPRX, will help the city’s consultant better identify information, electric grid, and infrastructure needs in Decatur and Macon County.

The city’s consultant will use the results to prepare an electric vehicle readiness plan with funding support from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The deadline for taking the survey is May 15.

Tim Fallon, vice president of manufacturing operations for Rivian Automotive, talks about the company’s newest SUV models: the R2, R3 and R3X. The company says the R2, to be sold at a $45,000 price point, will be manufactured in Normal starting in 2026.
